Easily missed in a blog post touting 13 million Daily Active users, Microsoft formally announced they are working on certified compliance call recording for Microsoft Teams.
ASC, NICE, and Verint were the 3 vendors named as working on the program.
No further details were given, but it’s great to see this publicly on the roadmap and that some big name providers in the space are working on it with Microsoft.
It will be interesting to understand how this model works in a global cloud platform.
From the blog:
“Call recording for compliance—Since many industries have regulatory policies that require the recording of calls and meetings, we’re partnering with compliance recording partners, including ASC, NICE, and Verint to add this capability to Teams.”
No further details were given and there is nothing on the public roadmap yet.
Interesting it says “call” and not “session”. In Skype for Business with solutions like Verba (now owned by Verint), recording covers:
- PSTN, Conference, Remote Agent, Mobile or Federated Voice
- Video
- Chat conversations
- Supporting Screen/Application Share and Content Share (File transfer, Whiteboarding, Polls & Q&A)

We’ve (Modality Systems) deployed Verba in a number of organisations and with them being on the program I hope video and screen sharing capture are on the agenda.
I’ll be sure to blog as more information becomes available.
We are definitely excited, Tom – thank you for the coverage. Nice touch – I hope people do read down our entire blog as well :-)
Hi Tom,
Can you explain if this will be covering the following requirement :
https://microsoftteams.uservoice.com/forums/555103-public/suggestions/19013110-audio-call-recording-in-teams
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams/Recording-phone-call/m-p/742876#M34542
Yes, it will meet these “I need to record Teams calls for legal reasons” requirements.
Hi Tom – any chance there has been an update on this?
No updates I’m afraid. I will blog as soon as more news is announced.
