When Microsoft originally announced moving Office 365 to enforce TLS 1.2, one of the blockers was Skype Room Systems using only TLS 1.0 or 1.1.
The latest date Microsoft moving to TLS 1.2 is now February 28th 2019.
Skype Room Systems v2
Good news on the Skype Room System v2 front. Skype Room System V2 software supports TLS 1.2 protocol since December 14, 2018, with app version 4.0.64.0.
Enabling communication over TLS 1.2 for Skype Room System V2 requires Skype for Business Server 2015 Cumulative Update 9 (CU9) or Skype for Business Server 2019 Cumulative Update 1 (CU1). For SfB Online or Teams no specific actions are required.
Now is a good time to make sure you have your SRS patching in play before the 28th February if you are a SfB Online or Teams customer.
Lync Room Systems (a.k.a. SRS v1)
Lync Room System (LRS) has reached the end of support on October 9, 2018, and will not be updated to support TLS 1.2.
The following LRS systems will need to be upgraded or replaced if TLS 1.2 support is required
- SMART Room systems
- Crestron RL2
- Polycom CX8000
- Crestron RL
This documentation outlines options to move LRS systems to SRS v2: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/deploy/deploy-clients/lrs-migration

Hi Tom,
I don’t believe 4.0.64.0 supports TLS 1.2. That update looks like it’s scheduled for a February release. Microsoft’s Partner Director of Teams Devices, Ilya Bukshteyn, addressed that yesterday in the comments on the 4.0.64.0 blog post.

Hi Tim,
The release notes say 4.0.64.0 (12/14/2018) does:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/skypeforbusiness/plan-your-deployment/clients-and-devices/srs2-release-note
but I will double check with MSFT
Ilya Bukshteyn kindly confirmed, the dec app update makes SRS / MTR “TLS 1.2 ready”.
As the release notes say, SfBS server-side support comes in future CU. so TLS 1.2 won’t work on SfBS until those CU’s.
cheers
SRS V2 When running in Teams native mode has a major flaw. You cant pull up the dial pad when you are in call so therefore you cant enter dtmf codes. Stops you being bale to join other conference systems etc…
Any idea on when they are going to fix this?
I know it’s a recognised problem and is no the backlog. I don’t have an ETA I’m afraid.
