Microsoft Teams Rooms licence getting Azure AD Premium P1

Thanks to Graham Walsh for the heads up on this one. Microsoft is adding Azure AD Premium P1 to the Microsoft Teams Room standard and Premium licences at no additional cost. This will be rolling out in November and is expected to complete rollout in December 2021.

Announced in the message center under MC291891.

With the (AAD) P1 service plan, you will have access to additional security and management features including MDM auto-enrolment, conditional access, and advanced group management. Premium P1 lists at $6 PUPM.

Once (AAD) P1 shows up in Admin Center, you may toggle the activation for Microsoft Teams Rooms licenses.

Microsoft stated, “The MTR Standard and MTR Premium service plans will not include any new features at this time; however, it will allow us to add new features to each of the respective service plans in the future.” Indicating there may be new features coming that will leverage the P1 capabilities.

  • The (AAD) P1 service plan will be added to the following SKUs:
    • MEETING_ROOM
    • MEETING_ROOM_FACULTY
    • MEETING_ROOM_STUDENT
    • MEETING_ROOM_GOV
    • MEETING_ROOM_NOAUDIOCONF
    • MEETING_ROOM_NOAUDIOCONF_FACULTY
    • MEETING_ROOM_NOAUDIOCONF_STUDENT
    • MEETING_ROOM_GOV_NOAUDIOCONF
    • MTR_PREM
    • MTR_PREM_FACULTY
    • MTR_PREM_STUDENT
    • MTR_PREM_US_CAN
    • MTR_PREM_FACULTY_US_CAN
    • MTR_PREM_STUDENT_US_CAN
    • MTR_PREM_NOAUDIOCONF
    • MTR_PREM_NOAUDIOCONF_FACULTY
    • MTR_PREM_NOAUDIOCONF_STUDENT

Microsoft is also are adding room-specific service plans to the Teams Rooms Standard and Teams Rooms Premium licenses. These service plans will ensure that your licenses will be able to deliver room-specific experiences in the future, such as front-row and split-gallery view. No new features or capabilities are being added as part of these service plans at this time, but we encourage you to keep them active in the Admin Center so that you receive the new features as soon as they are ready.
