Microsoft Teams Certified Ceiling Tile Mics and DSPs from Sennheiser, Crestron and Biamp

Noted in the latest Microsoft Teams Room System blog, there was an update on some new certified device types that will really help expand the capability/suitability of Microsoft Teams Rooms for certain scenarios.

DSPs (digital signal processor) allows audio processing and mixing and connectivity for various audio devices such as room mics.

Ceiling tile mics are an example of the type of device you can connect to a DSP. The first certified one from Sennheiser is specified to pick up audio for a radius of up to 60 sqm, no matter if the speaker sits, stands or moves around in the room. You can also chain multiple ceiling tiles to cover a bigger space.

I’ve had a demo of this type of unit and it was really impressive. I look forward to seeing further devices added to the certified list.
