Hot on the back of Citrix announcing they will support Microsoft Teams optimisation on VDI in a browser and a full client, Citrix has provided a video demoing their solution to optimize web-based Microsoft Teams in a virtual environment.
It works by using Browser Content Redirection and Google Chrome on the VDA, and the embedded browser within Workspace app on the endpoint. This offloads the audio and video processing to the endpoint giving users a better experience and improving server scalability.
Thanks to Nigel Simpson Principal Channel Enablement Manager, EMEA, Citrix and Lyndon-Jon Martin, Field Citrix Lead Workspace for pointing me to the video.
I look forward to finding out more from Citrix at Microsoft Ignite next week. Stay turned on the blog for more.
It looks like the details of how this works are here Tom, and it shows that IE11 is also supported as well as Chrome, but no mention of Edge and certainly no thick client suport yet.
