An authorized partner of Microsoft can help you with Office 365 sales, support, training and technical expertise to get the most out of your subscription. You can assign a “partner of record” or subscription advisor on your Office 365 subscriptions which offers the partner recognition and possible benefits from Microsoft and may allow the partner to office you additional services or options. It does not cost anything for you to set or change this and does not impact your licence pricing. Microsoft use the term both “subscription advisor” and “partner of record” to mean the same thing, I will use partner of record for simplicity.
Association of a partner is optional, and there can only be one partner listed per subscription. You can set the partner of record at time or purchasing the licence/subscription or at any time after.
First you will need to ask your partner for their numeric partner ID.
Add a Partner of Record at time of Purchasing Office 365 Subscriptions
When you go to the Office 365 Portal and Purchase Services:
Choose Buy Now
On the third step on the checkout you can add partner information
You can then enter the numeric partner ID, press check ID to confirm it and press OK.
Setting a Partner of Record on Existing Subscriptions with no Partner of Record
In this case go into your Office 365 Admin portal and go to Billing then Subscriptions
For the subscription(s) you want to assign look the right for More Actions / Add partner of record. A Sidebar will appear on the right to enter the numeric partner of record number. You can also tick to assign this partner or record to all subscriptions without a POR, which can save time:
You will be told it has been successfully assigned. The partner will also be emailed, the email is CC’d to all the administrators of the tenant.
Changing the Partner of Record on Existing Subscription(s)
In this case go into your Office 365 Admin portal and go to Billing then Subscriptions
For the subscription(s) you want to assign look the right for More Actions / Add partner of record. A Sidebar will appear on the right to enter the numeric partner of record number. It will list the existing POR

Once updated you will be told at the bottom of the sidebar
An email will be sent to the previous partner letting them know the POR has changed, and to the new partner letting them know they have been assigned POR. the email is CC’d to all the administrators of the tenant
