Microsoft offers Microsoft Teams (Office 365 E1) free for 6 months as response to COVID-19

JP Courtois, Microsoft EVP and President, Microsoft Global Sales, Marketing & Operations, announced on Twitter that Microsoft would be making “Teams available to all for free for six months”

This follows lots of other collab/meetings vendors offering extended free service offers such as Cisco and LogMeIn.

The interesting thing is Microsoft Teams already has a completely free version and offers a free 12 month trial for the very few Office 365 licence levels that don’t include Microsoft Teams.

A limitation of the free version is no scheduling. Microsoft will update the free version of Teams to allow users to schedule meetings for video calling on March 10.

In addition, Microsoft are offering a free 6-month Office 365 E1 Trial, including Microsoft Teams. Note PSTN conferencing is still an add-on cost, but this includes all IP meeting, calling and scheduling abilities as well as the test of the Teams collab features.

This offer is intended for customers managed by a Microsoft account manager. It’s for organizations who haven’t activated any other Office 365 E1 trials in the past.
