We recently saw a number of Microsoft Teams features added to the Microsoft 365 roadmap. Here is a breakdown of what is coming. The target dates tend to be a little optimistic, subject to change and the start of rollout rather than the end, so take them with a pinch of salt.
Dynamic Emergency Calling for Microsoft PSTN Calling Plans
Dynamic Emergency Calling is a feature of Microsoft Teams Phone System. It uses the caller’s current location to route to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), a call center operated by the local government. This feature is for the United States.
This is also supported for Direct Routing: Feature ID 53938

Enhanced Delegation
Currently Microsoft Teams offers basic delegation which is the capability to delegate your calls to another user. That person can answer and make calls on your behalf. Microsoft has enhanced this capability so that the people who support you can now add or remove additional delegates. They will also be able to change call forwarding settings on your behalf. This will better support those who need to delegate their calls.

Native Federation for 1:1 Chats
Have richer conversations with people outside your organization with Microsoft Teams. Users in TeamsOnly mode can now enjoy the same familiar chat experience whether they are communicating with a colleague or an external user.

“Reverse Number Lookup” aka Display Display Name presented by PSTN Carrier or Azure AD
Display PSTN Callers Name based on Azure Active Directory data and/or Telco provided display name

Pinned channels
Stay organized and easily keep track of your work with pinned channels. Pinning a channel moves it to the top of your teams list for easy access. To pin a channel, simply select “…” next to the channel name and select “pin”.

These are long time awaited. I was so happy when I started to see the display name coming out from our internal voice systems over SIP ;) great achievement again in terms of old features coming to be available on fresh new tool.
Any possibility of having pop-out chat, channels, documents? I feel this feature would have a big impact on productivity & collaboration.

Restricting channel access to part of the larger member group of the team – much needed and really seems to be an obvious ask. Any chance we are getting it anytime soon?
Private Channels are coming. There are no specifics public on how they work but hopefully more detail soon

When is the channel specifi permission coming ?
“Private Channels” is still on the roadmap, it’s been delayed a couple of times. Still coming, no public ETA I would bank on.

Do you have info what is expected to be added in the “Native Federation for 1:1 Chats” as today we already can chat with external users. What new capabilities will be introduced ?
