If you are in the Microsoft voice space, odds are you know the name Doug Lawty. Doug has been working with Microsoft voice-related products and services for over 10 of his 18 years at Microsoft. An instructor for the late Microsoft Certified Master program, he has all sorts of arcane Lync voice knowledge stored by the power of his beard.
At the recent Comms vNext conference (great conference, I really enjoyed attending and speaking and hope to be back next year), Doug did a great session on Microsoft Teams voice routing.
In his session presented this great Microsoft Teams voice routing diagram. I asked him afterwards and he kindly said he was happy for me to blog the link to it.
The diagram gives the disclaimer: While striving to accurately depict how voice routing works, simplifications have been made in order to surface just the information most relevant to administrators in a way that is actionable. Some elements in this diagram are forward-looking and may not be available – no commitment to deliver them is created or implied. Anything could change at any time.

Thanks, Doug for producing such a great asset for the community.
This is awesome summary and picture! Thanks for sharing.
A picture is worth a thousand words ! Thank you Tom Arbuthnot for sharing. Awesome work Doug Lawty !
Tom – I downloaded this pdf and attempted to share via email to my corporate environment. It was however picked up as malware. Are you aware of this? Is this also available in Visio format? I’d like to break it out into smaller sections to make for easier reading.
Not all the orgs allow access to Online storage like Onedrive. See if you can upload the pdf here itself.
Thanks
Good … Thx for sharing and hopefully see you soon in Amsterdam on Airlift.
Yes I will be there. Looking forward to it!
